Cake blog!

I have loved making candies, chocolates and goodies for a long time, but I have just recently found the passion with making cakes.  I took a cake decorating class and from there I dove deep into the batter and have loved it ever since.  My husband, Adam, told me I should document each cake and try to expand my skills to see what happens.  So that is why I am here, I want to post each cake on this blog and then time and money and tips that worked to make each cake.
Here are some things I made and learned during my class last year:

The class was very helpful with teaching about the frosting bags and different tips.  This was a rose I made with regular butter cream frosting, usually you would use royal icing, because it hardens and you can remove it and apply to cake..

 Fondant flowers:
First: you make some fondant in a cone shape

Second: You roll out small amounts of fondant as leaves and apply one by one on cone. This is harder then it looks, but after some practice it started to work.

Finally you get something that should look like a rose!

Fabric roses are beautiful to me and are easier then regular ones.

Fabric rose vs. standard rose

These were some other little things our teacher taught us, p.s. these were her creations, not mine.
